EPFO (Employee’s Provident Fund Organisation) assists the Central Board in administering a compulsory contributory Provident Fund Scheme, a Pension Scheme and an Insurance Scheme for the workforce engaged in the organized sector in India.
Level- 4 of Pay Matrix (Civilian employees) (Gr. ’C’) with Entry Pay Rs 25,500/- under 7th Pay Commission). In addition to Pay they will also be eligible allowances as per rules in force from time to time.
The total vacancies for the post of EPFO SSA 2019 were 2189.
Exam date and registration:
In 2019, the registration started in the month of June and the exams were scheduled in the month of August-September for Prelims, November for Mains.
Essential academic qualifications and experience:
You need to have a graduation degree from a recognized university or any equivalent qualification recognized as by Central Government and possess a speed of at least 5000 Key depressions per hour for data entry work.
General Candidates should not be below 18 years and above 27 years. There are provisions for category based age relaxation according to existing government norms. There is no limit to the number of attempts.
Any eligible candidate, who aspires to join EPFO as an SSA is required to register online for the recruitment process. In 2019, application fees for general candidates is Rs. 500 and for reserved category candidates was Rs. 250.

The examination will be held in three phases i.e. Phase-I (Prelims Examination), Phase-II (Mains Examination) and Phase-III (Computer Skill Test).
Phase-I: Prelimary Examination:
The EPFO SSA Preliminary exam consists of an objective test which will be conducted online. This test is bilingual (available in both English and Hindi) except for the English section. There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests. 1/4th of the mark assigned for the question will be deducted for each wrong answer. Phase–I is qualifying in nature and marks will not be reckoned for final merit.

The candidates will be shortlisted for Phase-II in the ratio of 1:10 i.e. about 10 times the number of vacancies in each category on the basis of their performance in Phase I.
Phase – II Main Examination:
Phase-II Examination consisting of Objective and Descriptive Test for 200 marks is conducted. The mode of exam is online. The questions are in English and Hindi both (except English Language Section). There is negative marking for wrong answers (1/4th of total marks allotted for that question). The marks obtained in Phase – II will be considered for final selection.

Phase – III Computer Skill Test:
The candidates will be shortlisted for Phase-III in the ratio of 1:5. Candidates are required to appear for the Skill Test to assess speed and accuracy for Data Entry Work. Minimum requirement is 5000 key depressions per hour. Computer Skill Test will be qualifying in nature. Marks obtained will not be reckoned for merit ranking.
Only such candidates who score the cut off marks or above in the Main Examination will be shortlisted for selection. Final selection will be on the basis of candidate's performance in the online Main examination in the order of merit and biometric verification. The decision of the EPFO in this regard will be final.
In cases where more than one candidate secure the equal aggregates marks in Phase-II, tie will be resolved by applying the following methods one after another:
i) Date of Birth, with older candidates placed higher.
ii) Alphabetical order in which names of the candidates appear.
Candidates should realise that to perform in competitive exams such as EPFO-SSA, they should be good at both concepts and application.
