The examination will be held in two phases i.e. Objective Examination & Descriptive and Group Discussion & Interview. The candidates who are shortlisted after Objective Examination & Descriptive round will have to appear for GD-PI round.
Phase – I: Objective Examination & Descriptive:
Objective Examination is for 200 marks and Descriptive is for 50 marks. The test conducting body is IBPS. Descriptive Test is administered immediately after completion of the Objective Test.
(i) Objective Test: The test contains 4 sections with a composite timing of 2 hours (i.e. no sectional time limit). The mode of exam is online. The questions are in English and Hindi both (except English Language Section). There is negative marking for wrong answers (1/4th of total marks allotted for that question).
Objective Exam Pattern (2018)
|Section||No. of questions||Maximum Marks|
(ii) Descriptive Test: The Descriptive Test of 30 minutes duration with two questions for 50 marks is a Test of English Language (Letter Writing and Essay). Candidates need to answer the descriptive test by typing on the computer. The descriptive test is for qualifying purpose only. This paper is evaluated only if the candidate has secured a minimum score in Objective Exam.
Category wise merit list is drawn on the basis of aggregate marks scored in Phase I. A candidate has to secure a minimum of 50% (for General Candidate) in Descriptive test to qualify for next round. If a candidate fails to secure a minimum qualifying mark in Descriptive, he/she will be disqualified even if he/she has an exceptional score in Objective Exam. Normally candidates numbering approximately 5 times the number of vacancies are shortlisted for the next round (GD & Interview).
Phase – II: Group Discussion & Interview
In Group Discussion, normally a topic or task is given and participating candidates are supposed to discuss that topic given or complete the task assigned. Interviews are conducted for individual candidates. A panel of 4-5 evaluators interviews a candidate to evaluate her/his personality, skills, and suitability for the job and organisation. The whole process takes around 3-5 hours depending upon the number of candidates and the panel.
Both marks of Phase I and Phase II are considered. The weightage (ratio) of online exam, GD and Interview is decided by the Recruitment Board. The final merit list will be on the basis of this weighted score.
